The Wine

2012 Gilgal White RieslingThe 2012 Gilgal White Riesling exhibits floral, melon, lemon zest, peach and tangerine notes complemented by hints of fresh mint. Medium-bodied, this refreshing off-dry wine displays subtle sweetness and classic varietal character.  Gilgal White Riesling is best appreciated within a couple of years of vintage.
 Drink the wine alone as an aperitif, or try it with spicy Chinese chicken wings, bubbling cheese fondue, or fish braised in a spicy tomato sauce.

The Vintage

The 2012 vintage brought lower than average yields coupled with very good quality.
The 2012 Gilgal White Riesling is made solely from White Riesling fruit grown in two vineyards on the northern Golan Heights. Its slow cold fermentation helps produce a wine that truly expresses its distinctive varietal character.

The Appelation

The Galilee (or Galil) is the most northern, and generally considered the best, appellation in Israel.
The highest quality area within the appellation is the Golan Heights (or simply the Golan), the coldest region in Israel. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level to 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) and receive snowfall in the winter. Golan Heights Winery is located in the town of Katzrin, in the central Golan.
